RBC employees help to clean-up, and re-plant Walter’s Creek

The Royal Bank of Canada is more than a great place to do your banking – it's also a community employer, with local employees working to leave the world a little better than they found it.
Recently, RBC Shelburne presented a cheque for $1000 to the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Area (NVCA). The money, funded through an RBC corporate grant program, ‘Day of Service', will be used to plant new trees along Walter's Creek and Besley Creek – to stop/prevent soil erosion and to provide new homes for local wildlife.
In order to ready the area to receive the trees (trees that will be planted in spring, 2016) – and to comply with the volunteer requirements of the ‘Day of Service' program – seven RBC employees, and three of their friends, spent hours cleaning the creek, and Caterpillar Park, in Shelburne's north end on June 3rd.
In that short time, the gang at RBC Shelburne were able to collect 18 bags of garbage, which were later collected by the Town.
The grant to the NVCA was made possible by the coordinated efforts of Michelle Rosser, RBC Client Advisor, staff members at RBC Shelburne, the RBC Day of Service grant program, Shannon Stevens of the NVCA, and Scott Wheeldon, Town of Shelburne.
The RBC Day of Service grant program offers $1000 grants for teams of employees that respond to a community needs, such as environmental clean-up's and tree planting.
