KTH’s ‘Green Initiatives’ continue

KTH Shelburne Mfg. Inc. takes its corporate social responsibility very seriously.
Over the years the company has embarked on reducing its environmental footprint to make the community and the planet a little greener.
Various projects such as renewing older, inefficient equipment, expanding recycling programs, changing the original lighting to T5 technology and planting trees with the support of associates and their families along with local organizations (Scouts/Beavers) are but a few of the projects to reduce their carbon footprint.
The most recent project is the installation of a Variable speed drive (VSD) Compressor to supply compressed air to their manufacturing processes. This single compressor eliminates 2 of their 17 year old compressors, and operates significantly more efficiently. KTH estimates and annual electrical savings of over 553,000 Kwh. To put this in perspective it equates to the equivalent of supplying 52.5 homes with electricity for one year, or is nearly the equivalent of 16,000 home BBQ tanks, but most importantly from a renewable energy perspective it saves 313 acres of forest, 888 barrels of oil, or 20 garbage trucks of waste recycled versus hitting the landfill.
Due to their latest initiative, KTH was recognized by Hydro One for “Excellence in Energy Conservation” in reducing their electrical consumption.
KTH is very proud of the acknowledgment, but equally proud in the efforts of their associates in developing projects as complex as these, to the simplest of tasks like powering down computers, fans and lights.
