You Gotta Eat Here!

Recently film crews could be seen at Barbs Country Kitchen located on Hwy. 10 in Mono shooting for the upcoming fifth season of the show “You Gotta Eat Here”, hosted by John Catucci.
Angelo and Barb, owners of Barb's Country Kitchen were thrilled to learn that they were chosen to appear on the Food Network's hit show. Angelo says “being asked to appear on a show dedicated to foods from around the country is an absolute honour”.
Both Barb and Angelo grew up in the food industry through family restaurants and food wholesaling. Growing up Angelo lived in New York and as a teen he was always on the hunt for the best food he could find from the Broncs to Staten Island, and we all know that New York has some amazing food! That being said, it seemed natural for this husband and wife team to go into the food service industry by opening their own restaurant as cooking was in their DNA.
Originally the couple owned the Coffee Bean located on Hwy. 10 in Caledon and after moving to Shelburne they opened Barb's Country Kitchen where they have been for the last year and a half. Angelo says that they try to think outside the box when coming up food items to put on their menu to stand out from other restaurants. Angelo told this reporter that he often comes up with an idea then his wife Barb will re-create it to perfection. He says Barb can make anything!
The recent filming for the show saw the restaurant close for two days with production crews shooting for more then 12 hours a day. All resulting in 18 hours of footage that will be edited down to fit the show which follows Catucci as he visits three unique restaurants per episode in search of exceptional food and to learn a few of the chef's secrets along the way.
Upon being selected for this program the owners must sign a confidentiality agreement in which the are not allowed to disclose much about what happened during filming, however they did tell us that it was a lot of fun, they had a great time and said that the best part was that John Catucci and the entire crew were all genuine.
Barb's Country Kitchen is open 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. daily, seven days a week and has seating for 38, plus a small outside patio. Angelo and Barb want to give a big shout out to all of their employees, especially Julie Dart their kitchen manger. “We love you all and couldn't have done it without you”!
