Christian Perspectives: a constant reminder

There's something to be said about consistency. The dictionary defines consistency as “steady, even, regular, dependable, unchanging, true”.
Don't we all want more of those things in our lives? Things and people we can count on? The most consistent weather in the world takes place in San Juan, Puerto Rico where the temperature is between 27-30 degrees Celsius year round. A far cry from Dufferin County, regarding knowing which jacket to wear tomorrow.
The most consistent baseball hitter in history was the legendary Stan “The Man” Musial. This Hall of Famer had a lifetime average of .331 and over his career set NL records for hits, RBI's, games played and runs scored.
We all wish for more consistency in our weather, athletes, investments and relationships but, the truth is, even the most consistent things in life, tend to let us down eventually.
Thankfully, God is consistent. In fact He never changes, it's impossible for God to change. The influences that cause change in our lives have no effect on God. He will never be stronger or weaker. His knowledge and wisdom will not increase or lessen. He doesn't change His values or have mood swings. Life's uncertainties may shake us, but God, The Rock, is unshakeable. In fact James 1:17 says, “Whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God above, who created all heaven's lights. Unlike them, He never changes or casts shifting shadows.”
God's unchanging purposes, give us eternal significance. Psalm 33:11 states, “The Lord's plans stand firm forever; His intentions can never be shaken.” You've heard it said “Plans Change”…not so with God. His plan is unchangeable.
Trends and changing perspectives can leave us feeling lost and behind the times, but God's unchangeable ways assure us of His unwavering guidance. Psalm 18:30 say's “As for God, His way is perfect. All the Lord's promises prove true”.
God's unchanging Word, equips us with truth that is timeless. “The grass withers, and the flowers fade, but the Word of our God stands forever”, (Isaiah 40:8).
Shining like a beacon that illuminates all these consistent promises, is God's unchanging commitment of everlasting security and peace that's found in Jesus Christ. By trusting in His accomplishments on the cross, we can be assured of a life that goes on forever, when this inconsistent world is past.
When your world is shaking and unpredictable; He is consistent; He is reliable; He is an anchor; He never changes.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow” (Hebrews 13:8).
