Shelburne Library news

Summer Programming
Children's Programs:
The TD Summer Reading Program is in full swing at the Shelburne Public Library. There is still time to sign up for the program if you have not already done so. Come in and pick up a calendar detailing all the activities we have planned for July and August. It is a fun time to read at the library!
Teen Scene:
Right now, there is a flurry of activity as the young participants are downstairs learning how to make Sushi and then eating it. Some of them said, Yuck before they started but once they realized they could make it with all vegetables, they all joined in and had lots of fun. The big highlight of course, was the dessert, a rice Krispie roll with gummy worms. That offset the healthy one. It was all messy but delicious. We are also hosting several other food related events during the month of July. Next week we look forward to making our own pizzas, including dessert pizza (Tues., July 21st).
This Thursday's activity will calm us down from all the excitement, as we will create gorgeous pictures using the Zentangle method and on Thursday, July 23rd, we will be making dream catchers.
The Summer Reading Challenge is ongoing and is meeting with great success. Our teens have been working hard and in the first two weeks of our Summer Reading Challenge, our teens have read for a collective total of 167 hours! That amount of hard work is not going unnoticed at the library.
Market Scene:
We will be at the BIA Shelburne Farmer's market again this Thursday. It is such a great little market and gives us the opportunity to chat with folks and at the same time, talk about our programs and services. We also have some gently used books for which we just ask a small donation. This is a good way to stock up on your summer reading for the beach,or for travel or you can always borrow your great summer reading books from YOUR library!
