Title: Stunt driver charged

On July 21th, at 7:02 am, an officer from the Dufferin Detachment of the OPP was conducting speed enforcement on 2nd Line Southwest in Melancthon Township. The officer observed the driver of a 2014 black Dodge truck travelling at a high rate of speed and determined the speed to be 141 km/hr. in an 80 km/hr. zone.
As a result of the traffic stop, Tyler Hymers, 24, from Clifford, Ontario was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle.
The vehicle was impounded for seven days as a result of the stunt driving charge.
The driver is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a later date.
Police remind motorists that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority.
