Let your imagination soar

Need a place to play? Well this Saturday, after much delay, Shelburne's new indoor playground is finally opening its doors.
On this occasion, ‘Infinite Play' will celebrate its Grand Opening from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and the business will remain open until 8 p.m. that evening.
Owner Virginia Millar welcomes everyone to come out and join her as she cuts the ceremonial ribbon, and then stay to play. There will be face painting, firetrucks, local vendors and a BBQ with proceeds to Scouts, Beavers and Cubs – who will be in attendance, manning the ‘Q'.
Virginia started planning her new business in November, 2014, and says, “I didn't realize what I was getting myself into”. From delays with contractors and inspectors, to HVAC issues, she always made sure safety was her first priority – even if opening her doors took a little longer.
As the local Early Years Centre is geared towards newborn children (up to the age of 6), Virginia's children had quickly outgrown the Centre, leaving them with nothing to do. That's when she came up with the idea to open Infinite Play.
“I could probably write a book on what not to do when opening a business,” she joked when speaking to her about the endeavour. However, this single mother of two says she is extremely excited, happy and relieved to be able to finally open her doors to the public.
Infinite Play is the ultimate play zone for children up to the age of 12. The 5,100 sq.ft. space includes a three level climbing apparatus, a bouncy ball room, bridges, and a twisty slide – you will never hear your child say “I'm bored” again.
Infinite Play also has an infant play area; a reading area; craft area; dress-up chests full of costumes; and a theatre with hand puppets. There is a huge chalk board; a felt board; and a air hockey tables too.
At Infinite Play, you will can book event rentals at one of two party rooms – themed ‘Space Room' and ‘Under the Sea'. Rentals start from $250 and can accommodate up to 80 people. Food and drinks are also available for purchase, and several local vendors maintain onsite booths to showcase their wares.
Infinite Play is an unsupervised play facility, so you must remain with your child at all times – which shouldn't be hard, as Infinite Play has classic arcades that will appeal to parents and caretakers.
Virginia is planning several upcoming special event days, and is thinking about new ways to make memories for Shleburnites and our children.
So take off your shoes (leave your socks on!) and come for a fun filled event on Saturday September 12, from 11 a.m to 2 p.m., and celebrate a new business, and a new beginning for us in Shelburne.
Even better, bring a donation for the Feral Cat Rescue and receive your admission ticket for half price.
