Sharks home opener on Monday

The newly formed Shelburne Sharks will play their first ever home game against the Orangeville Ice Crushers this coming Monday.
The Sharks are a new member team of the Greater Metro Hockey League.
They stepped in after the team that was supposed to play in Shelburne last season folded before they even hit the ice leaving a gap in the GMHL line-up.
The Sharks played their season opener against the Orangeville Crushers on Wednesday (Sept. 9) night in Orangeville. Game results were not available at press time.
The GMHL has expanded again this season with 32 teams playing in three division throughout the province.
The Sharks will play in the Central division alongside such neighboring towns as Alliston, Grey Country, Orangeville, Tottenham, and Bradford.
The League also has a North division with teams from Temiscaming, Bobcaygeon, Bracebridge, Parry Sound and neighbouring areas.
The South division includes four teams from Toronto and stretches down to London and Niagara.
The season schedule has teams matched up mostly with squads in their own division but does include cross-over games to other divisions through the season.
With the Leagues rapid expansion the divisions were created to keep down travel time and expenses given the distance between some of the teams is considerable.
The Sharks home opener will get underway on Monday, September 14, when they host the Ice Crushers at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex in Shelburne.
Game time is 8:30 p.m.
