Shelburne Library news

News! News!
We invite you to come and check our new reading corner. Comfy chairs in front of the fireplace and a small attached table to hold your laptop, your books or magazines and your cup of coffee. Yes, coffee! We have set up an individual cup coffeemaker for our patrons to use. We just ask that you keep it within the sitting area and make a donation to defray the costs… We hope that with the fall and winter approaching you will find this a warm and welcoming space. We also have all our study carrels that once held the children's computers outfitted with a power source so you can work on your own laptop and connect to our Wi-Fi.
Children's Programs
Remember to come to story time this Friday the16. Our fun theme is spiders. (Don't worry there will not be any real spiders)
The following week our theme is pumpkins and we will have a special guest from the Dufferin Waste Management program here to tell a short story about recycling.
Be sure to give us a call if you are planning to come. Or have any other questions about our programs please call.
Story time is every Friday from 10:30 to 11:30. It runs right through to just before Christmas.
Come and join us, all ages are welcome for music, stories, and crafts.
Teen Scene
Last week's candle making session was a great success! Some of our members used several colours of wax to make their candle, resulting in a layered, wonderfully scented creation! This Thursday we will be creating fall jars; teens will have a choice of medium with which to work, and will result in either a classic or spooky-looking decoration for this fall or Halloween!
Additionally, teens are encouraged to continue reading spooky/Halloween/horror books for October's book club meeting, which takes place Thursday, Oct 29th, from 6–7 p.m. The discussion will focus on the characters within these spooky selections, so come prepared to discuss how they act, speak, and relate to other characters!
• Oct 15th – Leaf & Jar art
• Oct 22nd – Life-sized Curses game
• Oct 29th – Spooky selections book club meeting
