The Shelburne Sharks continue to struggle in the early going of the Greater Metro Hockey League season.
With just one win behind them the Sharks are in ninth place in the 11 team Central Division of the GMHL.
After Thursday’s (Oct.8) game against the Alliston Coyotes in Alliston the Sharks are still holding on to three points in the standings after taking a 12–0 loss in that road game.
The Sharks ran into trouble early on in Thursday’s game when the Coyotes opened the scoring with three unanswered goals in the opening period.
It didn’t get any better in the second period when the Sharks allowed six goals to trail by nine going into the final 20 minutes.
The Sharks were again shut-out in the third period when the Coyotes notched three more to end the game 12–0.
That leaves the Sharks with a 1–8–1 record for the season.
The Alliston Coyotes are currently leading the Central division with 14 points and a 7–1 record. They are followed by the Bradford Rattlers with 11 points and Oshawa and the Bradford Bulls – each with 10 points.
The Sharks didn’t host a Monday night home game this week.
They will return to home ice at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex on Monday, October 19, to host the Alliston Coyotes.
Game time is 8:30 p.m.
