News! News!
Silent Auction Book Sale:
November 28th, will be the day of our Silent Auction and Book Sale. We have already received some great items; lovely wooden growth charts, art work and more. We welcome all donations gratefully to make this the best fundraiser ever! And of course, your support in purchasing items is also very much appreciated.
Sunday afternoon events
This year, we are offering two Christmas décor workshops with instruction by Shirley from Shirley's Flowers. This is a great way to get your home ready for Christmas.
Sunday, November 22: 1–4 p.m. Outdoor Container décor. All the materials you need will be supplied to create your very own unique outdoor pot. The cost is $75 and includes instruction, a metal container, greenery and décor items to create a special, festive entry door decoration to welcome your friends and family.
Sunday, December 20: 1–4 p.m. Holiday table or mantel centerpiece. Just in time for your Christmas dinner, you will learn how to create a beautiful table centerpiece. All the flowers, greens and other materials will be supplied. The cost of this workshop is $40. The great thing about these workshops is that you will learn skills so you can create beautiful flower arrangements for any occasion.
Children's Programs:
This week our theme is pumpkins and we will have a special guest from the Dufferin Waste Management program here to tell a short story about recycling.
Story time is every Friday from 10:30–11:30 a.m. It runs right through to just before Christmas.
Come and join us, all ages are welcome for music, stories, and crafts.
Teen Scene:
This week our LEGO group will be welcoming a special guest from Dufferin County's waste management group, who will be bringing along some friends of her own creepy, crawling composting worms! Stay tuned for the surprised reactions from our LEGO members.
Pizza & Pages, the Teen book club, will be meeting October 29th, from 6–7 p.m. to discuss the characters in their Spooky Selections for this month. Starting in November, Teens will be invited to take part in some creative writing challenges on the first three Thursdays of the month; most of our Teens write prolifically already, but now we will challenge them to be creative around our central themes. See you there!
Oct 29th – Spooky selections book club meeting
New Books:
Surprise! During the next few weeks we will be receiving delivery of all our new fall and winter selections. You will see the excitement here as we open box after box of exciting new reads. There will be a very short time delay as they will need to be catalogued but then GO as fast as you can to our website and put a hold on the books you want. All new books appear on our catalogue home page as soon as they are entered in the system and you can be the first one reading your favourite author or favourite new topical book once you place a hold.
