Healthy Life workshop plannedDo You Have a chronic health condition such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis or lung disease? A 6-week workshop, entitled, ‘Living A Healthy Life', a project of the Central West Self Management Program, will take place at the Mel Lloyd Centre in Shelburne on Mondays from Nov. 2nd to Dec. 14th from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Living A Healthy Life workshops are offered in the community at no cost to participants, are peer-led and intended for people living with and at risk for on-going health conditions. The 6-week workshop focuses on basic health education as well as skills and techniques training to build conviction and confidence in taking action to live well and manage symptoms. Participation in a workshop has been shown to be a factor in helping to improve well being, reduce hospital emergency room visits and shortened length of hospital stays. The Central West Self Management Program is funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care as part of the Ontario Diabetes Strategy, is hosted by William Osler Health System and delivers services throughout the Central West LHIN.
