Helping us feed Shelburne

Dear editor:
A letter to the editor and our community:
In this month of Thanksgiving and harvest we are called to appreciate what we have and to share with others.
Our community of Shelburne and the surrounding area has embraced this spirit of giving wholeheartedly. In the past few weeks, the Shepherd's Cupboard Food Bank has received generous donations from the corporate and private citizens of the Shelburne area.
The social committee of Stock Bus Lines organized a “stuff the bus” event at No Frills, Farm Credit Canada dropped off loads of groceries, Tupling Farms donated bags and bags of potatoes and Lennox Farms donated pies for Thanksgiving. The Melancthon Wind Facility (subsidiary of Trans Alta corporation) dropped off Thanksgiving turkeys while Central Dufferin High School supported by the Rotary Club collected food door to door in town. Our local grocery stores also made donations and facilitated donations by caring shoppers. Area churches and other groups collected food as an expression of thanksgiving.
The steering committee and those who stock the food bank shelves and distribute food to those in need of it are thrilled by the generosity of our community. You have helped us prepare for the needs we anticipate over the coming weeks.
Our sincere gratitude for your generosity,
Steering Committee,
Shepherd's Cupboard
Food Bank
