Shelburne RBC to host Fraud Prevention seminar

If you've ever worried about being scammed, swindled, tricked or flat-out taken for your money, then you'll want to mark your calendar.
On Wednesday, November 18th, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) Shelburne branch is hosting a Fraud Prevention seminar. Plan to attend, and learn how to identify and protect yourself from fraud.
This free event is open to all members of the community, and Shelburne Police encourage you to attend.
“Fraud crime is a growing concern, especially in today when fraud artists not only use traditional schemes through phone calls, mail and in person, but also use the Internet, social media and e-mail to commit their crimes,” said Paul Neumann PC Shelburne Police Services.
The purpose of this presentation is to inform the public on how to prevent becoming a victim of this type of crime.
The various methods and types of fraud will be discussed including tips on prevention, where and when to report suspicious activity, what to do if you believe you are a victim of a fraud, and why seniors are often targeted. The presentation will be followed by a question period.
The Shelburne Police is taking part in this by presenting a portion of the event.
RBC Shelburne is located at 123 Owen Sound Street. You can RSVP your attendance through the branch manager, Josie Green, by calling 519 925-2885 or by e-mail to josie.green@rbc.com however pre-registration is not required.
Shelburne Police Services wish to thank RBC Shelburne for hosting this worthy event which will “help the members of our community prevent becoming victims of fraud.
