Storytelling at CDDHSColinda Clyne (left,) representing the Upper Grand District School Board in Native Studies, welcomes First Nations' storyteller Isaac Murdock and internationally acclaimed visual artist Christi Belcourt to Centre Dufferin District High School (CDDHS) November 30th. Isaac Murdock spent time with students at the school telling three traditional tales of the trickster Nanabush and his mischievous adventures; students will then have the opportunity to work with Christi Belcourt to create three canvas murals to be displayed at the school. (Right) is Jane Godbold, CDDHS teacher and liason for “The Mural Project.” Not seen in the photo, Shirley John, a First Nations Elder, “smudged” the canvasses, students and artists with a healing smoke to prepare all for their artistic journey. “The Mural Project” will be revealed at a ceremony on Friday, December 4th.
