The two teams met on the ice at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex and played a fast paced three periods that saw a good effort from both squads. The first period saw the Wolves turn out a solid defence in their own zone that included some wild scrambles in front of the Shelburne net. Stayner opened the scoring with a nice pass from behind the net to the point. Returning for the second period, the Wolves took the action to the Stayner end but couldn't bury the puck despite setting up some good plays in front of the net. A couple of Cyclones sharp-shooters managed to score in the second period leaving the Wolves trailing by five before the Shelburne team could respond. With 10:38 left on the clock, Wolves forward Adam Roper lit up the scoreboard on the Shelburne side. The Wolves got their second goal of the game on a short-handed effort when Trent Wallace broke through they Stayner defence at the Shelburne blue line and found himself one-on-one with the Cyclone's goalie. Wallace picked his spot in the net before taking the shot to score. The game final was 7–2 for Stayner. “There was a lot of high shots,” said Wolves goalie Cole Alexander who played an outstanding game. “It was a good game, especially the short-handed goal,” He summed up. Despite the loss, the team's coaches look at the positives the squad accomplished on the ice. “Our coaching staff does a great job,” Said team manager Dean Baird. “The way we look at tonight's game – it's a 7–2 score, but we look at it like we lost the first period by one goal. The second period we made a few mistakes, there was a few turn-overs at the blue line, and the third period we tied 2–2. We end this on a positive note for the kids.” The Atom Rep team will be back on home ice on Saturday, December 12, when they host the Collingwood Blackhawks.
