This program benefits seniors lacking family or friends to visit, who are left to spend the holidays alone. The Elves work together with friends and the staff at nine facilities in New Tecumseth, Bradford, Newmarket and Orangeville, to provide personalized gifts for each senior who would otherwise be forgotten at Christmas. This year, the Elves had over 200 seniors on their list and approximately 100 elves participating. The NTPL was able to raise $646.31 to go towards more gifts so that hopefully no one will go without this Christmas. The library board and members of the library's social committee presented Gillian Tibbitts, the woman behind the Christmas Elves, and her daughter “Wiggy” with a cheque on December 10th to help cover expenses for finishing up gifts and any seniors who were not “adopted” by the elves. You can find out more about the Christmas Elves by visiting their Facebook page.
