$37 billion reasons

After the release of the Auditor General's 773 page report, MPP Sylvia Jones demanded the Premier stop any further sell-off of Hydro One in Question Period.
The Auditor General's report highlighted that Ontarians and small businesses paid $37 billion above market value for energy over the last eight years. In her report she states Ontarians will pay an additional $133 billion from 2015 to 2032.
“Clearly, Ontario's energy sector has turned into a mess because of this government's meddling, and it will only get worse if they continue to go forward with the sale of Hydro One,” Jones said.
“Unfortunately the government is choosing to sell Hydro One without listening to input from experts. As we learned from yesterday's report, they didn't even consult the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) whose job is to protect the consumer's interest,” Jones said. “When will this government listen to the OEB, municipalities and the people of Ontario and stop any further sell-off of Hydro One.”
