Season’s wishes from the TownOne of the many joys of the holidays is connecting to community friends and neighbours to wish them the best of the season. Whether you meet them on the street or send a special message by mail, these seasonal connections bring a content kind of comfort as we are reminded of the ties that bind us together. In this spirit, that the Staff and Council of the Town send their best wishes to the residents of Shelburne: “Christmas is a time of year best spent with family, friends and loved ones. This festive season is enjoyed by young and old alike, as our homes are filled with laughter and cheer. Let's all enjoy this time of holidays and celebration surrounded by the people we care about. I am so proud of our community this Christmas, whether it was participation the Fire Department Toy Drive or the donations to the Breakfast Program for local schools, the outpouring of community support in the Town of Shelburne this Christmas season has been fantastic! In the hustle and bustle of this busy season, I remind us all to pause and consider those who aren't able to celebrate this festive season. Maybe it's a neighbour that lives alone, or an elderly couple whose children won't be travelling home this year...let's all open our hearts and maybe even our home, so that everyone can enjoy the spirit of Christmas. On behalf of Stephanie and myself, from our family to yours, I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and an awesome 2016!” Merry Christmas! Mayor Ken Bennington “On behalf of the Shelburne Police Service, I want to extend warm wishes to you and yours for a safe and happy holiday season. May 2016 be filled with joy and prosperity.” Police Chief Kent Moore “The holiday season is a time to be thankful for our many blessings, a time when good will and the joy of giving abound. And as I reflect, I can't help but be amazed by the community spirit that our residents display all year-round. This is demonstrated by our willingness to volunteer, our support of community events, the eagerness with which we have welcomed new residents and the initiative to propose exciting new ideas. As the new year approaches, I'm confident that we are ready to embrace both the challenges and opportunities ahead. Have a safe and joyous holiday season.” Deputy Mayor Geoff Dunlop “On behalf of the Town staff and our families, we would like to extend Season Greetings to all residents and businesses in the Town of Shelburne and across Dufferin County. As this year comes to an end, we always reflect on what has been accomplished and where we see our direction moving into the New Year. We are all grateful for the exciting year that we were a part of and continue to plan towards an even better community to work, live and play. To you and family, all the best for 2016 and it has been our pleasure to serve you.” CAO/Clerk John Telfer “I would like to wish the citizens of Shelburne a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope all have a safe holiday. The new year will be a very busy time for me. The Economic Development Committee is expecting a strategic plan to be competed with the transit component as a part of it. This will point how we will see the way forward for Shelburne on the commercial and industrial growth. We will be working with the BIA to make Shelburne a place where our citizens will enjoy shopping. The CDRC board is struggling with keeping a forty year old facility in good working order and finding the funds to do that. Council will be awaiting the secondary official plan which will indicate how Shelburne will continue to grow. As always I will continue to work for the best interest of the citizens of Shelburne.” Councillor Walter Benotto “Meghan and I would like to wish you and your family, a Merry Christmas, a joyous holiday season, and a New Year filled with health, happiness, prosperity and hope.” Councillor Wade Mills By Marni Walsh |
