Founders Ellen & Joey, are very happy to announce the edition of Catherine Stilo who has had a life-long passion for health and wellness. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) specializing in vinyasa flow, A.C.E Certified Group Fitness Instructor and Schwinn Indoor Cycling Coach.
Cat first stepped into the studio in 1998 adopting a personal yoga practice as a way to manage the stresses of her frenetic work life and to balance the intensity of her workouts. From there, her spiritual journey blossomed and her life began to transform.
After spending over 20 years as a highly successful marketing executive working for various multi national corporations, Cat took a huge leap of faith and decided to live more authentically. She left the 9–5 career climb to pursue her passions for yoga, permaculture and sustainable living full time. Her journey has taken her to yoga retreats in Costa Rica and on the big island of Hawaii, Earthship Academy in New Mexico to study Biotecture & Sustainable Building and the beautiful mountains of Vermont to study Permaculture.
Vinyasa is a Sanskrit term often employed in relation to certain styles of yoga, that usually refers to a transition between two different positions. The term vinyāsa may be broken down into its Sanskritic roots to assist in decoding its meaning. Nyasa denotes “to place” and vi denotes “in a special way.”
There are four basic definitions of vinyasa: 1) the linking of body movement with breath; 2) a specific sequence of breath-synchronized movements used to transition between sustained postures; 3) setting an intention for one's personal yoga practice and taking the necessary steps toward reaching that goal; and 4) a type of yoga class.
