Nothing useful

Dear editor:
Howdy folks. I questioned in my last letter what it is that Mulmur council is doing about the Niagara Escarpment Commission's (NEC) new plan to take control of over two thirds of Mulmur? This Land is Our Land. By reading Mulmur's December 9th, 2015 meeting minutes, when they discussed the matter, I can tell you they are doing nothing useful.
On October 6, 2015 Grey County made a resolution regarding this very matter. They resolved that the NEC should provide “individual notice to all landowners within the areas that are proposed to be added to the Niagara Escarpment Plan”. Further to that, their resolution states that “the County of Grey recommend that the Niagara Escarpment Commission be dissolved given the existence of professional planning in County, regional and municipal governments”. Now, that is doing something.
Also, Councillor McQueen declared a pecuniary interest in the matter and withdrew from discussions. This brings to question; why is it that Mulmur Councillor Janet Horner doesn't declare a conflict of interest during these discussions, she sits on the NEC? And how the heck is that?
Until Next Time!
