GMHL hosts All-Star game: Teams from around the province send players to TottenhamIt was an all-star cast on the ice at the 2016 Greater Metro Hockey League (GMHL) All-Star game when teams from around the province sent their best players for a game with an international flair held at the Tottenham Community Centre arena on Tuesday, January 12. The League, which has a high number of foreign players in its ranks, divided the ice with Team Canada, featuring Canadian born players on one bench, and Team World, featuring players from several different countries on the opposing bench. Around 42 players represented their teams and were joined by coaches and team owners for the event. A full complement of GMHL fans turned out to cheer on the teams. Representing the Shelburne Sharks was forward Tyler Thorn who played on the Team World side for the game. After the first period, there was an All-Star Shoot-out that added some thrills to the game. The second period intermission featured a skills competition. It was a good break for the players to have chance to play alongside other GMHL members who they normally only see in a face to face battle on the ice. By Brian Lockhart |
