“True love conquers all” at Trillium Ford

By Wendy Gabrek
Trillium Ford is a family, in more ways than one.
Two of the company's drivers, Joyce in Shuttle and Don in Parts Delivery, celebrated their 16th Wedding Anniversary last Friday, February 19th.
The couple, who work at Trillium Ford's Shelburne location together, first met when Joyce answered a classified ad, place by Don, in a Brampton newspaper.

He was looking for a companion, and she'd had a bad day and wanted some company.
The couple had their first date on February 15, the day after Valentine's Day, and Joyce says Don dodged a bullet with that one.
“He didn't have to buy me anything special for the occasion,” she said. “But he did pay for the coffee on the 15th.”
From that first coffee date, Joyce and Don have been together ever since.
Joyce recalls the couple's first “official date,” and says they went out to dinner, to a Chinese food restaurant. Don took the last three shrimp available at the buffet, and seeing that Joyce wanted them, he took them off his plate and gave them to her.
“I ended up with severe food poisoning,” Joyce said, looking back on the incident now and laughing. “His heart was in the right place though.”
Don and Joyce got married in a friend's backyard, on February 19, 2000, in Burlington.
They moved to Shelburne later that year.

Don got a job working at Trillium Ford, delivering parts, and when the dealership moved into its new larger location in Mono, they hired Joyce too.
When asked about the success of their marriage, Joyce had little advice for new couples, but she did say, “true love conquers all.”
Don, also a realist, said, “Happy wife, happy life.”
The couple celebrated their anniversary by going away with friends for the weekend.
They were celebrated at the dealership too, and the employees at Trillium Ford stopped for just a minute to wish them congratulations, and have toast, using cupcakes, in their honour.
Congratulations Don and Joyce.

May you celebrate many more milestones together, and may your marriage be like Ford trucks – built tough, and engineered to last.
