Shelburne Arena NewsSkate Canada Shelburne is getting ready for their 64th Annual Skating Carnival this Friday, March 4 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex. This year's carnival theme is “One Hit Wonders”. This is the Skating Club's year-end finale and what they have been working towards all season. It's a fun filled night for everyone. Come see the young skaters in their group carnival numbers and the senior skaters perform their solos. The Senior AA Shelburne Muskies Hockey Club play Ripley Wolves this Saturday, March 5 at 8 p.m. Go Muskies Go! Start your Tuesday off with a smile; The Shelburne Christian Women's Club will meet again at the CDRC on Tuesday, March 8, with coffee being served from 9.30 to 11.30 a.m. with “Top O' The Morning”, a presentation on the history of the Irish in Dufferin County and lots of music for the heart. The next Central Registration night will be held at the Centre Dufferin Recreation on Thursday, March 10 from 6 – 8.30 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get information and register your family for all the upcoming summer sports in the area. Minor lacrosse, ball hockey, baseball, soccer, golf and Nordic walking will be on hand to answer all your questions and register your family. The CDRC is interested in hearing from other local recreation programs that would benefit by promoting other recreational programs at these events. Contact the CDRC at 519-925-2400 for more information. The next Party Rockers dance will be Friday, March 11 from 7 – 10 p.m. These dances are suited for youth aged 7-13 and the dances are chaperoned by Skate Canada Shelburne volunteers as a club fundraiser. The cost is $10 per person. The CDRC will be open for shinny hockey and public skating over the March Break on Tuesday, March 15 through Thursday, March 17th. Free public skating will be from 1 – 1.50 p.m. each day. Shinny will be at 11 a.m. for Peewee and younger and 12 noon for Bantam and older. Full equipment is required and $5 per skater. Free Public Skating continues every Sunday at the CDRC 1.00 to 1.50 p.m. until March 20. All you need is some friends, family, skates, and a desire for a great time. And if you have toddlers who aren't ready to be skating with the big kids, come on Thursdays from 2.30 to 3.20 p.m. for FREE Parents and Tots skating.
