Branches can still be seen curbside at many houses in Town and seeing a huge tree that have been cut down is becoming a common sight. John Telfer, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Town tells the Shelburne Free Press that “most of the major brush has been cleaned up and trees have come down that were damaged by the storm.” At this time, we estimate costs to be around $65,000 for the cleanup, however all numbers have not come in yet and we feel that by the time all is said and done we could see that number reach as high as $100,000,” he says. “Due to the power outage, we are anticipating there to be additional costs related to the sewage plant, however we will not know until after an inspection that is scheduled for next week. [On Tuesday] we had representatives from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs on hand to inspect all the damage that was done, as the Town has until June to make submissions for emergency funding.”   YARD WASTE COLLECTION BEGINS MONDAY For all of Dufferin, general yard waste collection begins in April. As well, fees will be waived for bringing branches and brush brought down by the ice storm to the GFL Dufferin Transfer Station until Saturday, April 16.
