Once a team arrived at their destination they had to complete tasks such as having to pump three people's fuel at the gas station. They had to memorize a poem at the library and recite it back, shake ping pong balls out of a Kleenex box tied to their waist, as well as having to put on clothes located in a certain dryer at a laundromat and tweet a picture. And it was all for a good cause, part of CDDHS's 15th annual fundraiser, Hair Off for Headwaters, which was started by a former teacher who was diagnosed with cancer and shone the spotlight on the need for increased funding to “keep cancer care local.” To raise more funds, Ms. Senese, Business Teacher in charge of Hair Off tells us the Tech department of the school hosted a Show n' Shine this past Friday, with many elementary schools visiting. “The business classes were there conducting various fundraising initiatives, mostly food related, but [they] also had some trivia games with prizes,” she says. “Students were able to buy in for a toonie to attend the show n' shine with all proceeds being donated to our Hair Off Campaign. We also auctioned off a jersey signed by Paul Henderson as well as a class competition, where the class that brings in the most money will win a pizza party paid for by our principal. Teachers also become involved by challenging their class to bring in a certain amount of money and they will cut their hair at the assembly.” When asked who came up with the idea of having an amazing race for this year's Hair Off, Ms. Senese replies “the group responsible for Fundraising Initiatives came up with this idea and consisted of Bryn Armstrong, Megan Long and Di'ja Balfour. Winners Hannah Little and Emma McLaughlin won this year's race and also received a $50 gift card for Blue Jays tickets. There were prizes for 2nd and 3rd places as well as race t-shirts, which were provided to the first 30 participants that signed up. The t-shirts were kindly donated by Corporate Image. The closing assembly for Hair Off at CDDHS takes place this Friday, May 27 at 2 p.m. and donations can still be made online through May 31 via at www.ugdsb.on.ca/cddhs.   --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2016-05-28 00:57:51 Post date GMT: 2016-05-28 04:57:51 Post modified date: 2016-05-28 00:57:51 Post modified date GMT: 2016-05-28 04:57:51 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
