Free concert following Festival Parade this Saturday

By Marni Walsh

A free concert to showcase beautiful Grace Tipling Hall will take place this Saturday, August 6, directly following the Festival Parade at approximately 3.30 p.m.

Located at the corner of Main and Victoria Streets in the Town Hall, Grace Tipling is a lovely concert hall, originally built in 1882, with seating for an audience of just under 200 patrons.

“As a complimentary concert, it is our intent to feature local talent and market the hall as a great place to showcase our talent,” says Town of Shelburne CAO and Clerk John Telfer.

The concert, promoted as “Centre Stage at the Hall”, is organized by a festival sub-committee as an extension of the Performing and Visual Arts Board of Management for the Town of Shelburne, consisting of the CAO John Telfer, Noni Thomas, Dale Lundy, Kelly McDowell, Andrew James, and Sohayla Smith.

Andrew James will be the emcee for the new event, and Centre Stage at the Hall is proud to present both local and out-of-town talents in its inaugural début.

Centre Stage at the Hall only features artists who have auditioned to the board subcommittee. Some of those, “Duets and bands such as Dickie and the Boys, Scarlett's Hand, and Riley Michaels band will showcase for the first time in Shelburne,” say the organizers.

Other performers in the entertainment line-up include local talents of all ages:  Acacia De Krijger, Natalie Savona, Brianna McGowan, Avalynn, Ronique Saunders, Pooja Vaidya, Dustin Bricker, Mikayla Evans, Gabrielle Oatman, Unique De Krijger, Mathew Guevarra, and Darcey Baker.

“The performing arts submissions range from pop, rock, and cover bands, to vocalists, singer-songwriters, dancers, and even an Elvis tribute artist,” says Ms. Smith.

She says audiences are “in store for an eclectic entertaining couple hours.”

Centre Stage at the Hall, “Is an exciting free performing arts showcase that allows us to further celebrate both local and out of town talents,” says Sohayla, “and more so, to share our passion and our support of arts and culture together.”

Centre Stage at the Hall is free, directly following Saturday's Festival Parade at Grace Tipling Hall in Shelburne. See more at facebook.com/onstageatthehall or visit the website: www.onstageatthehall.ca.
