Shelburne Library News: Programs @ YOUR LIBRARY - all are welcomeBy Rose Dotten Silent Auction and Book Sale- Saturday, November 26, 2016 It is that time of year again for our Annual Fundraiser: our Silent Auction with proceeds going directly to our collection. We welcome donations and appreciate your support in supporting the library. We will also be featuring our well-received book baskets, special treats and a humongous book sale. Children's Programs “Paws to Read” Mac (and Darlene) is back on Wednesday, October 19, from 3.30 to 4.30 p.m. There are four 15-minute sessions; we are filled this week but do check in for an opening next week as they fill up quickly. It is a wonderful program for anyone who is a little shy of reading out loud or needs a little practice with his or her reading skills. Story time is back on Friday mornings @10:30 a.m. for children ages 2 and up. LEGO is on after school 3.30 to 4.30 p.m., for ages 6 and up. Come and join this lively group. We serve a healthy snack to keep the energy level up after school. Please register for any of these programs by calling the Library at 519-925-2168, so we can be prepared for everyone. Teen Scene Our teens had a howling good time last week finishing up their spooky Halloween decorations and participating in SPL's first-ever Potions Class. Who knew that a few snail squeezes, 100 per cent organic dragon's breath, mummy dust, and spider venom could make beautiful, purple elephant toothpaste! Pizza & Pages: Teens meet for book club to discuss Shutter by Courtney Alameda, and to start working on their written pieces for the Write Across Ontario competition! We're going to spend a couple of weeks on this because the winner from each of the four leveled categories could win $500! Wouldn't that brighten the Holiday season? Please note there will be no Teen events on Thursday, October 27, but we will be hosting Scary Movie Saturday on October 29, where a series of spooky films will be shown (14+ ratings) and costumes will be encouraged! Lunch and snacks will be provided. NEW BOOKS This is a fun time of year as we are ordering our new books for the fall and winter season. Once they arrive, it feels like an early Christmas for us and for you it means new books to curl up with on those cold winter nights. If you use the KOHA online catalogue, there is a spot to make purchase suggestions. We read every one of those and respond. So check that feature out!!!
