Let’s go ‘Pickin in The Park’

The first ever Pickin in The Park weekend is coming to Shelburne July 26–28th.

The event will be held at Fiddle Park and is a family friendly weekend of music, rough camping and dancing.

Organizers Greg and Heather Holmes came up with the idea for Pickin, after attending similar events out of town.

“We needed something like this here in Shelburne,” Greg told the Free Press. “It's going to be great to have an event like this right here at home.”

Admission for the weekend is $25 which includes camping fees.

Friday and Saturday night is ‘Open Mic Night' with sign-up starting at 6 p.m.  The music starts at 7 p.m. (until 11 p.m.) and each musician will be allowed to perform two songs.

Saturday morning the ‘Trailer Trash Yard Sale' starts at 9 a.m. There will also be a craft market and local vendors. From 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. groups will be taken to Besley Farms, for a tour of their hydroponic tomato plant operations.

At 1 p.m. guitar luthier Dan Clark will be available for demonstrations and guitar repairs.

Music will start back up at 2 p.m. on the stage, with guest musicians to be announced.

Throughout the evening there will be horse shoes, redneck games and dancing on the town stage under a big white tent.

On Sunday, the Gospel Show starts at 10 a.m. and prize and raffle winners from the weekend will be announced.

This country and western old tyme weekend is sure to be a blast.
