Good for them that they are qualifying for the Eastern Championship, but unfortunate for us that he is not available. We hope to reschedule at a later date and will let you know. If you have purchased a ticket and would like a refund, please contact us. Otherwise, once the new date is determined, you can still either attend or obtain a refund.   MORE NEWS! As you will see here, we were delighted and surprised to be awarded the First Prize in the TD Summer Reading Club program! It is a national award with over 2,000 public libraries participating each year and a large number submitting their program activities and statistics. We are so proud that YOUR library stood out! From my perspective here, I think it is a wonderful testament to our community who is so very supportive of our programs; our Board who really backs everything that we, as staff develop; our entire staff who work so hard to develop programming for everyone and especially each summer as we focus on the TD Summer Reading program. We had some of our business partners specifically support our Youth Carnival last year and all these elements contribute to the overall ratings that helped us achieve this award. However, I want to thank everyone who supports us throughout the year in so many ways, and especially our patrons. It all matters! Another community event in which we and many others participated, was the exhibit True Grit, which opened on Saturday evening at Dufferin County Museum and Archives. You will see many familiar people in the display and note that ours, once again, reflected the supportive community in which we live. This morning, we attended the CDDHS co-op breakfast. It was a well done display of all the students' work as they fulfilled their co-op placement this semester. Marco Carere is the student here and we have found him very helpful and are pleased that he is planning on attending an Information Management course next year. I was invited to give the speech on behalf of the employers this year and I truly think it is a great opportunity for students to test out their ideas for future careers.   Children's Programs Come and join our fabulous programs… with more information coming soon about our TD Summer Reading program.   Teen Scene Our Mother's Day cards turned out fabulously last week, so some of you can expect works of art to celebrate this weekend. This week for Teen Scene we will be making some stress dough for (surprise) stress relief! Pick up a YA events calendar @ YOUR Library and follow us on Facebook (/shelburnelibrary) to stay current.
