For anyone who remembers the first tournament a year ago, that day was lest than ideal with colder temperatures and drizzle. However the same supporter turned out this year in support of the Club. Around 33 people took to the links in support of the Club. “We want to get our dehumidifier replaced,” said Gordon Stephen, marketing and membership manager at the Club. “Last year we started with this fundraiser and this year we are continuing it. We're working very hard with the new board of directors at the Curling Club to develop a plan for fundraising and this is part of it. We have a lot of members and a lot guests out here as well. They all come out and have a beautiful day on the golf course. The weather is better than last year. One of our members is from Sudbury so he's here and brought some friends. We have friends in the community that have come out to support the Curling Club.” Curling season will start soon and prior to the start up, the Club will host registration. If you have ever wondered what goes on at a curling club or thought that you might be interested in playing, the Shelburne Club will host a clinic “The week of the 22nd, (October) we're having an on-ice clinic,” Stephen explained. “People can call the Club or go on the website and sign up for it. And they can come out and we'll give them a couple of nights of instruction in the basics. Probably 20 to 25 per cent of the people who come out for the clinics end up signing up for a league which starts the following week. It's a great opportunity for people just coming into the community who are looking for a winter activity. We have a very complete program. Curling is Monday to Friday, for people of all abilities and ages. Our youngest is six. We have 20 kids between ages eight and 11 who came out last year. We have 15 in in an older group and another dozen teenagers who came out.” Curling is an all ages sport that is competitive and fun and also has a good social atmosphere in the Club House. --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2018-10-04 14:33:02 Post date GMT: 2018-10-04 18:33:02 Post modified date: 2018-10-11 12:37:04 Post modified date GMT: 2018-10-11 16:37:04 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
