Volleyball camp begins soon

As with many sports recently, Volleyball is capturing the attention of  young people as the sport continues to explode in popularity around the globe and Shelburne and Orangeville have successes to prove the theory.

Scott Armstrong, retired elementary school teacher and  Club Director for Acts Elites Volleyball Club & Spikes Facilitator, will be heading up the Acts Elites Volleyball Club Clinic that will run from Tuesday, August 13th to Thursday August 15th  in Orangeville at the Westside Secondary School located at 300 Alder ST. Armstrong has been involved with the sport for the better part of his life and to his credit is NCCP Level 1 Certified, has been an Acts Elites Coach at every level, is a clinician and has officiated volleyball during his extensive career.

Armstrong points out, “Clinics like this are a great way to introduce the game, and teach kids how to play competitively.”

Five of Armstrong's senior players will be helping to coach the clinic that promises each kid very attentive instruction. Fairly priced at only $70 and $120 for two family members, a kid requires only running shoes, knee pads and parents are asked to provide a lunch. Each kid will receive a T-shirt reminding them there are new possibilities for their future.

According to Armstrong, this clinic offers an excellent opportunity to become exposed to a sport that has so much to offer including future prospects both academically and professionally, citing former player and  the success of Marcus Trence, who now has a scholarship at Queens University, is a member of Team Ontario Canada Games Team 2013, and is provincially carded. Beach Volleyball also has its draws as Will Hoey is a player at Queens University, member of Team Canada Beach Program having participated at 2013 U23 World Beach Championships and is a nationally carded player.

Armstrong is quick to mention former girl's success as well as Taylor Brisbois is a scholarship player at McMaster University and is also a member of Team Ontario Games 2013 while Daniel Brisbois, scholarship player at the University of British Columbia, a member of Team Ontario Canada Games 2013, also provincially carded.

Armstrong's extensive experience provides him with insight, “I've seen kids with skill and talent they never knew they had at clinics like the one we offer. You never know what can happen!”

The clinic will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3:15 p.m. each day, including a one hour break for lunch. To register, please contact Tish Hansen at 416-434-1717 or tish@thansen.ca  by August 8th. For more information into the Acts Elites Club, go to www.actselites.com
