Three graduates of Ontario Police College to join Dufferin OPP

Dufferin County's police force just got a little larger.

Three out of 21 newly hired Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers who successfully completed their training at the Ontario Police College in Aylmer and the Ontario Provincial Police Academy in Orillia, are joining the Dufferin detachment. 

The other 18 officers are being hired at other detachments across the Central Region. 

The Chief Superintendent of Central Region OPP, Dwight Peer said he's proud to welcome the 21 new officers to the OPP and looks forward to their service. 

“The safety and wellbeing of our community members is a priority and these officers will further enhance our commitment to serving with pride, professionalism and honour,” said Peer. “I look forward to our new officers meeting their communities and contributing to their new detachments and those we serve.”

Police in Ontario ensure public safety through both crime prevention and law enforcement, and work with community partners and stakeholders to make it happen. The 21 graduates from Class 492 will bring a diverse set of skills and backgrounds: traits greatly beneficial to the communities they are deployed. 

The new Provincial Constables have been deployed to  Bracebridge, Caledon, Kawartha Lakes, Collingwood, Dufferin, Huronia West, Northumberland, Orillia, Southern Georgian Bay.
