Shelburne Police Service responded to 79 calls for service between July 28th and August 5th 2013.

Shelburne male charged for stealing donation box:

On Wednesday July 31st Shelburne Police launched an investigation after a complaint was received concerning a donation box with approximately $90 inside disappeared from the service counter at Johnny's Pizza. The investigation resulted in 31 year old Eric Raschke of Shelburne being arrested and charged with Theft and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. Raschke was released on a promise to appear with a court date in late August.

Shelburne female charged in shoplifting incident at foodland:

On Thursday August 1st, 51 year old Shelburne resident Adrian Ing was arrested and charged with Theft and Possession of Property obtained by crime after police investigated a shoplifting complaint at the Foodland grocery store. She was released on an appearance notice with a court date in late August. All items were recovered and returned to the store.

Two Shelburne residents arrested and charged in fraud incident from early July:

Shelburne Police initiated an investigation in regards to fraudulent cheques used to purchase items at the Shelburne Foodland on July 7th. As a result of the investigation 31 year old Eric Raschke was arrested and charged with False Pretences and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and 21 year old Ashley Whitman was arrested and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. They were both released on a promise to appear with court dates in late August.  Both accused are residents of Shelburne.

R.I.D.E. check results in drug possession charges:

A  R.I.D.E. spot check conducted by Shelburne Police on Owen Sound Street results in drugs possession charges on Sunday night – August 7th.  A grey Honda Accord entered the spot check and evidence of marijuana possession was immediately apparent to the investigating officers.  36 year old Puneet Raheja of Brampton was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under the controlled drugs and substance act.  He was released with a court date in September.

63rd Canadian Open Old Time Fiddle Contest – August 7 – 11, 2013

Shelburne Police would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to the 63rd Canadian Open Old Time Fiddle Contest.

Shelburne Police also want to remind everyone that liquor is to remain at your residence and not on the street. Officers will be patrolling the streets of Shelburne and assisted by members of the Orangeville Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police.  Police will be monitoring liquor violations and any disturbances. Shelburne Police want you to enjoy the weekend in a safe and responsible manner.

Over the course of the weekend there is a shuttle bus available and people are encouraged to use this free service and not drink and drive.
