I'm proud to be able to offer the amazing experiences I had to our town,” said Cook.  Cook was first hired at a McDonald's restaurant in Brampton at the age of 15, when she was looking for a job, she could do with her friends. When it was time for her to go off to university, she was offered a position as a shift leader.  “At that moment, it flipped from my part-time job to a potential career opportunity,” said Cook.  By the age of 25 she had reached the role of general manager and has been in the position for the last 15 years.  Over the years, Cook has seen her career take her across the country and globe including working the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Italy. She has been recognized as Outstanding Manager of the Year and was a recipient of the Ray Kroc Award, which celebrated the top one per cent of general managers.  Reflecting back on her 25-year career and offering the same opportunities she had to the local youth, Cook said, “It was important to me as a teenager to have something local and to be able to do that in the small town of Shelburne, for my kids.” She continued, “Especially with a growing town with a lot of teenagers, they need to have a place that can employ people that have different schedules, abilities, and needs and I think this team and community is ready for McDonald's to let them grow.”  The new local fast-food restaurant is expected to bring between 90 and 100 new jobs to Shelburne. “Even now, we are still doing interviews,” said Cook. “I've been overwhelmed by the amount of community members that have come out to work with us. People in this town want to work for McDonald's and it's very encouraging.” Shelburne's first McDonald's restaurant, located at 800 Ojibway Road, in the Emerald Crossing Plaza, will officially open their doors to customers on Sept. 1.  --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2022-09-01 13:22:13 Post date GMT: 2022-09-01 17:22:13 Post modified date: 2022-09-01 13:22:22 Post modified date GMT: 2022-09-01 17:22:22 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
