Whether you're a member of the fitness community or not, navigating a healthy lifestyle can be difficult. But, two members of Shelburne's fitness community hope to make it easier for local residents with a dedicated vitamin and supplement store.

“Supplements are super beneficial to a lot of people. It doesn't matter if you go to the gym or if you're an everyday person. There's stuff in your diet that you don't normally get that you should supplement for health benefits,” said Joe Bennett, co-owner of OC Supplements.

OC Supplements, located at 520 Main Street E in Shelburne, is owned and operated by local residents Joe and Jessica Bennett. Both active members in the local fitness community, the couple opened OC Supplements to help residents, inside and outside the fitness community, improve their overall health.

“We always dreamed about working in the fitness community. Originally, we thought about opening a gym, but we didn't want to do that to the gym's already in the community,” explained Jessica. “So, we thought a supplement store would be the next best thing because we don't have one in Shelburne.”

While supplements are often associated with fitness, the Bennett's focus with OC Supplements is to provide a space for the various demographics within Shelburne.

“What we wanted to do here at OC Supplements is to not make it overwhelming for anybody. We're encouraging people to make food at home and to understand the supplements a little bit better. It's all going to help your overall health,” said Jessica.

Their inventory ranges from creatine, glutamine, and pre-workout for gym goers to protein powders, snacks, collagen and vitamins for the everyday individual. The store has also stocked items such as barbeque sauces, seasonings, dressings and maple syrup for customers to use in their day-to-day lives.

OC Supplements is open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

OC Supplements is an Indigenous-owned business.
