Dufferin-Caledon's local hospital is looking for people to join its volunteer board of directors.

On February 5, Headwaters Health Care Centre (HHCC) announced it was seeking applicants for its board of directors.

The HHCC's Board of Directors is responsible for providing governance oversight and monitoring performance goals for the HHCC.

“Directors play a crucial role in offering feedback and guidance to the CEO while serving as a vital link between the hospital and the communities it serves,” said HHCC in a media release.

People who live in Dufferin and Caledon are welcome to apply to be board members. The HHCC Board of Directors is looking for diverse representation in experience and background, as it aims for “inclusivity that mirrors the perspectives of the Dufferin-Caledon communities.”

Kim Delahunt, President and CEO of the HHCC, said she's encouraging anyone with a passion for making a lasting difference in health care to consider the HHCC as their way to give back to the community.

Responsibilities of board members include participating in monthly board meetings (three hours per month, minus summer months), belonging to at least one committee, attending two-hour bi-monthly committee meetings that require advance preparation, and supporting the Headwaters Health Care Foundation.

The HHCC said ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, the ability to listen and ask constructive questions, and personal and professional integrity in navigating diverse ideas. It said candidates should also have time to contribute to the hospital.

Board members are provided with education and development opportunities, such as developmental opportunities in health care governance from the Ontario Hospital Association.

Those interested in becoming a board member can submit an expression of interest via email to info@headwatershealth.ca by March 29.
