Gladiators and Samurais win in weekend cricket action

The Shelburne Cricket Club hosted two weekend games at KTH Park in Shelburne on Saturday, July 20, and Sunday, July 21.

The Gladiators faced off against the Knights in Saturday's match-up.

The Knights won the toss and chose to bat first.

The opening bowling attack started strong, restricting the Gladiator's run-scoring opportunities.

Despite the pressure, Razzaq scored 36 runs. Abhay added 24 runs, and Nadeem contributed 13 runs, to help the Gladiators reach a total of 115 runs before being all out in the 20th over.

Abdul Rashid and Unike Patel were instrumental in the Knight's bowling – each taking three wickets.

It was not an easy total to defend, but the Gladiators were up to the challenge.

When the Knights came up to bat, they lost early and quick wickets. Abdul Rashid's 18 runs was the highest score for the team.

The Knights were bowled out for just 51 runs, leading to a 64-run victory for the Gladiators.

Abhay Pratap was named the Man of the Match for his performance in both batting and bowling.

The following day, the Warriors were up against the Samurais in the Sunday game.

The Samurais won the toss and chose to bowl.

The Samurais' bowlers kept the Warriors' openers in check, making it difficult for them to score in the powerplay.

Ahsen Siddiqui managed to score 30 runs with Muhafiz adding 24 runs, and Sony contributing 20 runs.

This allowed the Warriors to post a total of 118 runs.

Ravi and Shivdhan were the key bowlers for the Samurais, each taking three wickets. When it was the Samurais turn to bat, they approached the chase with confidence.

Opener Ravi Gill made his first half-century of the season, scoring 50 runs.

Garry and Manjinder supported him with 25 and 17 runs respectively, enabling the Samurais to reach the target in the 18th over and win by seven wickets.

Ravi was awarded the Man of the Match for his outstanding batting and bowling performance.
