A teenager from Orangeville is facing 10 weapon-related offences, stemming from a robbery investigation, recently conducted by the Dufferin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers.
Dufferin OPP of cers responded to a disturbance near Fourth Avenue in Orangeville on April 27, shortly after 5 p.m., where police were told a male suspect pointed a firearm at two people in a retail hardware store parking lot.
The suspect ed the scene but was located shortly after in the area of Sherbourne Street, where he was arrested.
It was later determined that the firearms involved were replica weapons.
As a result of the investigation, a 16-yearold from male from Orangeville has been charged with:
• Criminal Code 344(1)(b) Robbery with Weapon (two counts)
• Criminal Code 88 Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose (two counts)
• Criminal Code 87 Pointing a Firearm (two counts)
• Criminal Code 90 Carrying concealed weapon
• Criminal Code 129(a) Resist Peace Officer (two counts)
• Criminal Code 351(2) Disguise with Intent Due to the age of the accused, their name will be withheld in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
None of the listed charges have been proven in court.
