Muskies still seeking players

The Senior hockey leagues in Ontario always get a late start – at least in comparison to the Junior leagues.

With the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior AA league not getting under way until mid October the Shelburne Muskies are still looking to fill the roster for 2013 / 2014.

They have two try-out skates in September and two more in October with more possibly planned.

For far the Muskies have not listed any signed players for this season.

As for the bench, they are still seeking a General Manager, and no coach has been named.

Former head coach Joe Bakes stepped down after the end of last season.

The Senior league has 18 teams from around western Ontario that play in two divisions.

Last season the Muskies finished in sixth place over all winning 16 games including three overtime wins on the record. They lost eight.

The Muskies are in the North Division of the WOAA Senior division along with squads from Elora, Saugeen Shores, Ripley, Durham, Shallow Lake, Mapleton-Minto, and Lucknow.

The South division has nine more teams based south of the region going down as far as Tillsonburg.

Going on the road for their first two games of the season, the Muskies will travel to Ripley on October 11, to get the season started.

The following week, game two will be in Shallow Lake.

The home opener is slated for Saturday, October 19, at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex in Shelburne with the Muskies hosting Elora.

Game time is 8:00 p.m.
