Call the Library – 519 925-2168 for more information about our fall events and happenings. The Writing Workshop with Kelly James is on September 22nd  and 29th. Further information about all our events is listed in the column and on our website or Facebook page. Pizza & Pages Teen Book Club: Our group of teen bookworms recently read The Giver by Lois Lowry. This was the first title that was chosen for everyone to read and that could be discussed as a group.  As each member reflected on their likes and dislikes about Jonas (the main character) and his utopian/dystopian world, it was a proud moment to recognize that many members now considered the book among their top ten! They're not the first to appreciate its literary significance… The Giver won the Newbery Medal and has sold more than 5.3 million copies since its original publication in 1993.  Our next group read, as determined by popular vote, will be Beastly by Alex Flinn, a modern-day retelling of Beauty and the Beast that was also recently adapted to film. Library Literary Event – Off the Page: Our first library literary event is just around the corner!  Join us on Sunday, September 29th at 2 p.m. for an engaging visit with internationally published author, Barbara Kyle.  Barbara's historical novels and thrillers have sold over 400,000 copies, and she is well known for her speaking engagements – her recent talk at Ontario's world-renowned Stratford Festival was standing room only! Blood Between Queens, Barbara's latest novel is the fourth book in The Thornleigh Saga, following the rise of a middle-class English family through three tumultuous Tudor reigns during which they make hard choices about loyalty, allegiance, duty, family and love.  Space is limited, so call or visit the library to reserve your seat! Fall Storytime: Make a craft, sing along, read a book and have some fun!  Storytime with Ms. Jeanne resumes Friday, September 20th at 10:30 a.m.  Did you know that Storytime helps develop a child's imagination, encourages a love of reading, and builds good listening skills?
