Thinking forward, thinking green – Auto Centre Dufferin County is going the extra mile! Auto Centre Dufferin County is a well known fixture in the community of Shelburne. In addition to being an Emissions Testing Centre of Ontario, a member of the Ontario Tire Stewardship, (an organization who recently celebrated their 50 millionth tire collected in Ontario for their recycling program), a proud member of the Take It Back Program,(a program where customers can bring old batteries, tires and motor oil to be disposed of safely and correctly), this forward thinking company and staff are committed to going green and have now incorporated a Windshield Washer Fluid Pump Tank. Auto Centre Dufferin County's owner, Steve Bowles is committed in his ongoing contribution to saving the environment and believes the small steps he and others in his industry are taking today will become the ‘norm' of tomorrow. “Service Providers are not competitors, we work together,” Bowles explained. “Together we are building an industry image.” And that industry image is making an impact in a big way and by simply doing the math, this company alone will reduce the number of jugs needing to be recycled from 1000 jugs a year by simply filling the Windshield Washer Fluid Pump Tank five times. It's this forward type of thinking that enables a safer work environment imagining the space saved in garage when 1000 jugs are not needed to be stored, the cost of having to recycle the jugs each week, and brings this company yet another step closer in their commitment to the environment. Though proud of his positive steps to help protect and preserve the environment, Bowles humbly admits, “The Windshield Washer Fluid Pump Tank is not a new concept, but we are doing our part, and we are proud to be a handler of recyclables.” Bowles points out that this aspect of his business is not retail oriented. For example, the consumer cannot visit the business to re-fill their own person windshield washer fluid bottle. In 2008, Auto Centre Dufferin received the Service Station & Garage Management Award for Garage of the Year. Although a very proud moment for he and his staff, the company's commitment to service never waned and if anything, both he and his staff simply became even more committed to excellent service. Bowles points out, “We are Service Providers. It's not about being the biggest and the best, customers can come in and see what we can do,” and continues, “As we are Service Providers building our image, The Windshield Washer Fluid Pump Tank is just another example of what a Service Provider can do to be more environmentally friendly.” Proving to be a pioneer in his thinking, Bowles never strays far from what is most important to him stating, “I'm so proud of my staff.
