This page was exported from Shelburne Free Press [ https://shelburnefreepress.ca ] Export date:Sat Nov 23 16:34:59 2024 / +0000 GMT ___________________________________________________ Title: OPP nab impaired driver --------------------------------------------------- On September  12, after 9 p.m. Dufferin OPP were dispatched to a report of a Northbound silver 2002 Nissan Sentra traveling on Highway 10 in Caledon Village going 120 km/hr. in a 50 km/hr. zone with no headlights turned off. At 9:25 p.m.  Dufferin OPP observed this vehicle travelling northbound Highway 10 at 30th Sideroad in Town of Mono at 177 kilometres per  hour in an 80 kilometre per hour zone with headlights turned off.  When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop and activated their cruiser's emergency lights, the driver put his lights on, then turned them off again and continued to speed. The Nissan nearly rear ended a car turning left at the traffic lights in the Village of Primrose, as he continued straight on Dufferin County Rd. 19. The vehicle then came to an abrupt stop in the northbound lane, just north of Highway 10 and 89 Primrose intersection in the Town of Mono. Further investigation lead to the arrest of the sole male occupant. He was taken to Dufferin OPP for intoxlizer tests. Tajbir Singh Sokhi  23 yrs. of  Brampton, Ontario  was charged with  Dangerous driving, Impaired driving, and Drive Motor vehicle over 80 mgs of alcohol.
