Redwings still looking for first win

The Shelburne Redwings Junior A squad is still looking for their first win of the season after taking a beating from the Tamiscaming Titans on Friday night at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex in Shelburne.

The squad is now 0–10 for the season.

The Titans came to town as one of the powerhouse teams this season, but no one could predict what a dominating force they were on Redwings home ice.

After leading the first period 2–0, the Titans unleashed a fury in the second frame scoring eight goals to end the game before the third period even started.

The only scoring from the Shelburne squad was a pair from Semple Terrence in the second period, but that's all they could do for the night.

The third period ended with five more Titans goals.

On the good side, the Shelburne squad took only two minutes in minor penalties for the game. Tamiscaming had a total of ten minutes in minors.

The Redwings have been playing with a short bench all season and are still waiting for some players from Europe who are having continued difficulties obtaining visas to make the trip across the pond.

The South Muskoka Shield is leading the Greater Metro Hockey League going undefeated after 10 games into the season.

The Bradford Bulls are in second place with an 8–1 record and 17 points.

They are followed by Tamiscaming with 16 points and the Toronto B. Ice Jets who are in fourth place with 16 points and an 8-1 record after nine games.

The Redwings will be back on home ice this Friday, October 18, to host the Knights of Meaford.

The puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
