The Shelburne Red Wings took another loss on Sunday when they travelled to Orangeville to take on the Americans for a special afternoon charity game in support of Prostate Cancer Canada. While the game may have been part of a charity event, it was also on the schedule and the points mattered. After leaving the ice with a three goal deficit in the first period, the Red Wings got some back in the second frame notching three to get on the scoreboard. Shelburne goals came from Rueben Anderson, Rastislav Harakal, and Ashot Avagyan. Although they scored, the problem is the Americans matched them scoring three of their own to make it a 6–3 game going into the final twenty minutes. When the teams returned after the break, the Orangeville squad let loose scoring five in the third period to end the game 12–6. The Shelburne squad fought back scoring three in the last period on efforts from Ethan Beardy, Semple Terrence, and Sergey Kononov, but they were no match for the O-vill squad who is currently in the number six spot in the twenty team Greater Metro Hockey League. The Red Wings have failed to come out on the plus side this season and still have a zero in the points column. The top four teams in the GMHL are Seguin, Bradford Bulls, Temiscaming, and South Muskoka. The Red Wings will take the ride down Highway 89 this Thursday to take on the Allison Coyotes with a 7:30 p.m. start. They will return to home ice at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex for their regular Friday night game on November 15, to host the Bobcaygeon Bucks.
