It’s flu shot season

Caravaggio Pharmacy on Main Street in Shelburne hosted its very first Flu Shot Clinic on November 13th.  Registered Practical Nurse, Nancy Mach from Bayshore Health Care based in Kitchener arrived prepared to inoculate approximately 60 people with the intention of helping people avoid this year's concoction of influenzas A, B, and H1N1.

“I recommend those who are elderly, those who work in retail, in the public, in the health care fields to get the shot as a precaution. Basically anybody who comes into contact with a lot of people on a regular basis should consider getting inoculated. Though you can't prevent everything, it's comforting to know you can protect against some flu virus',” commented Mach.

A topic becoming more and more controversial as debates around the world try and hazard a guess, and that is exactly what it is- a guess, as to which virus' are likely to surface each year.

Gail Brown, Pharmacist at Caravaggio's  noted, “ Really it is a guess as to which  virus's will be a concern each year, so including the most common virus' in the  shot could help prevent serious illness if something could hit,” and mentioned, “The Mel Lloyd Centre will offer their Flu Shot Clinic on December 3.”

Notably important is a simple fact for all procrastinators intending on getting a shot, sooner is better, as on occasion there are simply not enough vaccinations to supply demand.

Pharmacy owner, John Caravaggio commented, “This is our first year offering this and it's our way of giving back to our community.”
