Local police, local high school and the mighty moustache! Movember comes to a close

“Movember” is the cause which raises money each November to help in the fight against men's prostate cancer by sponsoring men to grow mustaches for the entire month.  Each year organizations are finding new ways to raise money and this year was no exception as the Shelburne Police Department paired up with Centre Dufferin District High School to raise money in a new and exceptionally fun way in addition to growing mustaches for the month.

As November came to an end, CDDHS was the place to be to shave mustaches, play volley ball- teachers versus students, and enjoy the music. Women couldn't be left out of this worthy cause and this year several female teachers daily auctioned their face to be the canvass of a new mustache and the student who won the bid, got to paint the mustache on the teacher's face for the day.

Other female teachers and students donned fake mustaches and together with the Shelburne Police department, CDDHS can celebrate their Movember efforts yielding a whopping $1,000 in contributions for the cause.

Constable Darryl Rutledge first contacted the high school who immediately and eagerly participated as Teacher, Matthew Rush commented, “We'll definitely do this again next year. It's such an important cause.”

Rutledge couldn't be more pleased with the amount raised. “I set a goal of $1,000 and we reached it. I'm very pleased with that. I'll definitely do this again next year.”
