Thank you for the hospitalityDear editor: We were stranded in Shelburne over the last weekend, from Friday night through late Saturday afternoon and stayed at the shelter set up in the Shelburne Recreation Centre. We cannot thank everyone enough for the work that was put into the organization of the shelter. From the Red Cross organizers to all of the local emergency services to the young teenagers, everyone was pleasant and helpful. We understand that more than 200 people spent Friday night in the centre and we were all welcomed calmly and cheerfully. By 11 a.m. we were settled in with blankets and by 2:30 p.m. we had cots. The food, which we understand was supplied by Pete's Donuts, was fresh and tasty. We would like to send out a very large thank you to all of those who took part in this and to let all know how much it was appreciated. Ron & Sonya Ward, Markdale |
