Vehicle stops results in charges

A Shelburne police officer conducting radar enforcement on Main Street during the very early hours on Thursday February 6th stopped a Dodge pick-up truck for speeding 78 kph on a snow covered 50 kph roadway.

What originally appeared to be a straight forward speeding offence, turned into a criminal case with both occupants of the truck arrested.

The investigation resulted in the 26 year old driver Ryan Hooey of Owen Sound arrested and charged with Over 80 Operation of a Motor Vehicle as well as speeding. Additionally the passenger, 32 year old David Dixon also of Owen Sound was arrested and charged with Breach of Probation and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Both accused were released from the station on a promise to appear with court dates in later February and early March.
