NVCA board re–elects Chair and new Vice Chair

Nina Bifolchi, Councillor for the Town of Wasaga Beach, was re-elected Chair of the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority Board of Directors at the NVCA's Annual General Meeting on January 10, 2014.

“I look forward to continuing in my role as Chair for the NVCA Board of Directors,” said Bifolchi. “We have a busy year ahead of us which includes an Efficiency Audit Review that should be completed in the spring. I am confident that through this review we will become more efficient in assisting our member municipalities and watershed land owners. I would like to thank the Board of Directors and staff for their commitment to the NVCA being an integral, efficient and sought after organization for our watershed.”

Gail Ardiel, Councillor for the Town of The Blue Mountains was elected Vice Chair for the 2014 term.

“I am excited to take on this new position as Vice Chair.  Many things are happening in 2014.  For example, the NVCA recently established an Agricultural Advisory Committee that will strengthen our relationship with the farming community,” said Ardiel. “I want to continue with this and other elements of the vision that the NVCA has worked hard to establish in previous years.”

Walter Benotto, Councillor for the Town of Shelburne, will again serve as Past Chair.

“It was a pleasure working with our Chair Nina Bifolchi and Vice Chair Darren White in 2013,” said Benotto. “I wish Darren all the best in his future endeavours and know he will continue to be a great asset to the NVCA as the member from Melancthon.  I look forward to working with Ms. Bifolchi and Ms. Ardiel, our new Vice Chair, in the year ahead.”

The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority is a public agency dedicated to the preservation of a healthy environment through specialized programs to protect, conserve and enhance our water, wetlands, forests and lands. The NVCA's jurisdiction is approximately 3,700 square kilometres and includes 18 municipalities in the counties of Simcoe, Dufferin and Grey.
